Can I use Bookclubs to organize a club that doesn't read books?

Yes!  While Bookclubs is specifically designed for book clubs, you can use Bookclubs to organize all types of clubs, including movie clubs, cooking clubs, Bible study or other faith-based clubs, discussion clubs, and more.  Instead of attaching a book to a meeting, you can attach a link (think: to an article for discussion, the IMDB page of a movie, etc.), and you can also give your meeting a title and description.
