What can other readers see on my profile?

Modified on Tue, 3 Nov at 11:03 AM

Anyone can see your first name, your profile photo, when you joined Bookclubs and your Favorites. Readers you've approved as followers also see your full name, your shelves, your reading stats and your clubs.

What everyone can see

This includes readers you haven't approved and visitors who aren't signed in to Bookclubs:

  • Your first name and profile photo
  • When you joined Bookclubs
  • Your Favorites

If a signed-in reader is in a club with you, they also see a Clubmate label and the names of the clubs you're both in.

What your approved followers can see

  • Your full name
  • Your Currently Reading, Want to Read, Have Read and Did Not Finish shelves
  • How many books you've read, rated and reviewed
  • Who you follow and who follows you
  • Shared and public clubs: clubs that are listed on Join a Book Club, plus any clubs you're both in

Private clubs are never shown to someone who isn't a member of them.

What stays private

Your email address, phone number and address aren't shown on your profile. Members of your clubs only see them if you choose to share your contact info with that club in your Privacy settings.

Reviews you post publicly continue to appear and show your username, whether or not someone follows you.

Preview your profile

On the website, go to your profile and select See what others see under Share my profile. You'll see your profile the way it looks to readers who don't follow you.

Choose who can follow you

By default, you approve each new follower before they can see your shelves. To let anyone follow you right away, turn on Let anyone follow me in your Privacy settings. In the app, go to More > Account > Privacy settings.
